About us

Strathspey Performing Arts Centre offers an opportunity to enrich the community
through live music and theatre arts, in a professional performance venue.

Strathspey is located in the Allan J. MacEachen International Academic and Cultural Centre, a shared space with Dalbrae Academy and the Alexander Doyle Public Library. Nestled in the rolling hills of Cape Breton’s musical coast, Strathspey is a key destination for locals and friends from away.

Strathspey Performing Arts Centre presents internationally loved entertainers. Some familiar names that have join us backstage and performed to sold out crowds include John McDermott, Men of the Deeps, Rita MacNeil, Natalie MacMaster, Town Heroes and many more!

Strathspey has recently increased the caliber of its presentation by adding in-house productions to it’s identity. The summer series Brìgh, was influenced and energized entirely by youth! Taken from the Gaelic meaning of Brìgh, which is “essence or energy”, this performance, showcased in Gaelic with some English translation, was well loved by one and all. From widely talented youth to some classic Cape Breton characters, the next production added to Strathspey’s profile is Sin Agad an Dòigh. This comedy show is delivered in English but draws from the traditional Gaelic way of life and Cape Breton humour. Both these shows have elevated Strathspey’s profile in the performance arts community by building on intricate and mesmerizing audio visuals, seamless lightning transitions, set design, professional theatrical skills, and much more.

Strathspey developed a fresh new image in Summer 2016, with a new look and feel. The entity was changed from Strathspey Place to Strathspey Performing Arts Centre, with a unique and inspiring brand calling of “A Passion for Performance” which speaks highly to the innovation and delivery of shows.
