Celtic Colours: Òrain: The Connecting Thread
- 7:30pm
Tickets to this event are available through the Celtic Colours website.
Join Scottish piper-Gaelic singer Allan MacDonald and generations of Cape Breton Gaelic singers for a special concert in Mabou, a beating heart of Gaelic culture in Inverness County. Exploring the connections to Gaidhealtachd na h-Alba—the Scottish Highlands—as represented in the song tradition of Cape Breton Island, this evening’s songs are as well-chosen as the location, and those who will be singing them. Local Gaelic song tradition shares much with that of the Old Country; some songs live on in different settings, and some are still sung the only way anybody has ever known. The songs will tell us of the inspiration and the adaptation and the influence of place, and how it is connected. With fiddle and cello duo Mairi Rankin and Eric Wright, and students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Ùr: The Future of our Past, this will be a night to remember.
